BORLEY GHOST SOCIETY
Volume 1 |
October 31, 1998 |
Number 1 |
Welcome to the first edition of the Borley Ghost Society Newsletter. Your
response and enthusiasm has been most encouraging.
This first edition is dedicated to Alan Wesencraft who has served for decades as the
curator of the Harry Price Library at the University of London. Alan has retired from that
position, even though he promises to help out as he is able to do so. He has been a good friend to
me, and his graciousness has been extended to many others as well. Many authors and countless
researchers owe him a great deal for the time and patience he has given. Alan is interested in
steam locomotives, and I imagine he will now have more time to pursue his hobby. Best of luck,
Alan!
Each issue of the newsletter will be posted on the web in our exclusive area at
http://www.borleyrectory.com/society/welcome.htm
I've added a new page to my web site describing my mixed emotions about researching
Borley and the affect it is having on residents. Read about my conundrum at the link to visitors.
Another new section is devoted to Frequently Asked Questions, or FAQs as they are called.
It was a very busy time around Halloween. I was a guest on the program "KSL
TONIGHT" with Kevin Stanfield on KSL-AM Radio 1160, Friday, October 30. KSL is the oldest
and largest station in the area. We were supposed to open the phones to callers, but the host was
so interested we never got round to that.
Radio Disney
will do a segment in December.
The Internet site has been featured by USA Today and by
Family Site of the Day. I've downloaded those pages to my web site as they
will not last forever.
Ivor Noel Hume is writing a book on his poltergeist experiences, and asked me, "when I
have the draft approaching final form, would you be kind enough to look it over
to ensure that I have not drawn wrong conclusions. Needless to say, I have
found your web site of great help." Hume is an author, and was chief archaeologist for Colonial
Williamsburg. He is an expert in Roman British and U.S. colonial period artifacts

Latest paranormal links
- According to the The World
Watchers, "Edgar Cayce gave over 14,000 readings between the years 1901
and 1945, covering more than 10,000 topics." On this site you will find a reading he gave about
Atlantis, and a link to the A.R.E. Research Center
founded by Cayce in 1931. The A.R.E. offers an ESP test, an Online Study Group (chat room),
and an invitation to join. I couldn't find any readings on this site.
- I DID find an excellent site with Cayce readings designed by William Terrell
- Omni magazine has
loaded an interview from High Strangeness on Prime Time Live! Patrick Huyghe talks about
Cayce and the Mysteries of Atlantis with the son and granddaughter of Edgar Cayce.
- If you wait for the page to completely load, and you take time to scroll down a bit, you will
find several readings at Sparky's Index of Cayce
readings.
- The Edgar Cayce Resource Center has
a brief history of the man, plus an essay on "the most important thing we can do
in this lifetime!"
- The Meaning of Life and Death
according to Cayce is documented on an easy to read web site. This is only one section of a very
comprehensive site on Near Death
Experiences and the Afterlife. This beautiful web site has stories from over two dozen people
who have had NDEs. Each story has its own unique art work, which is worth the visit alone.
- Phenomena On-Line
is a great place to visit. A very unique feature of this site is a "PhenomenaCAM" which is "the
first live webcam featuring genuine events which are dedicated to the paranormal, the unexplained
and the unusual." Using an electronic magazine format, these web pages bring you the latest
weird news and current events.
- The Paranormal Research Primer promises "a
comprehensive overview of many paranormal subjects." It focuses on crop circles and UFOs, but
also looks at monster, Nostradamus, a list of paranormal publications, people related to the
paranormal, and much more. You may want to subscribe to the newsletter called "The
Strange."
- Richard Senate has a new web page dedicated to his work as a "Ghost Stalker." He promises to detail cases he has
worked on, his favorite ghost stories, and you can chat with his wife Debbie.
- If you want to get the low down on ghosts in Texas, visit Lone Star Spirits. You can
click on your favorite Texas town, and read about the spirits visiting that site.
