Ghosts are like a fan

Last night I dreamt I went to Borley again.... Painting it too much I suppose.

.. . . It was pretty real though. I was standing in the dining room and I was facing the Monk fireplace. A fire was going, burned down to the embers, and they were glowing only faintly, ashes around them. I was listening to Harry Bull speak, trying to answer my age old question; "What are ghosts, why do we see them only for brief moments"?

Actually I hadn't asked it, he was just giving me the answer I've always sought. I was staring at the embers as he was speaking from somewhere behind me, I never did see him. I only 'knew' it was him speaking. He was telling me "ghosts are like a fan" (in motion), you can't see the blades, but when a light flashes on them, (eg; lightening), you see them, (only for a moment), then they're gone...but really they're still there".

I woke up to this bit of advice, thinking how this made sense to me. It would explain the 'feeling' you still have after you've seen one, not from your own fright or bewilderment, but because they're still there!
