Mission Statement of the Borley Ghost Society
The Borley Ghost Society was formed October 31, 1998 to examine without prejudice any
and all existing records and research related to the alleged haunting of the rectory and church of
Borley, Essex, England. Associates of the Society gather data, discuss appropriate history and
events, and promote a better understanding of all phases of the phenomena reported at Borley.
All relevant research, opinions, and studies are shared with Associates and the public via
publication on the Internet web site www.borleyrectory.com
Certain internal documents not relevant to the public appreciation of the history of Borley
are shared exclusively among Associates. The study of corollary cases contributing to the
understanding of the events and history of Borley is supported and is eligible for discussion
among Associates, but may not necessarily be released to the public. Any reported research or
opinions expressed in the Society's publications are the responsibility of the original authors
alone.
It is not the purpose of the Society to cause undue hardship, embarrassment, or discomfort
to the present residents of Borley. Their rights and serenities will not be disrupted by any member
of the Society. Such residents will be treated with the same dignity in which Associates of the
Society would wish to be treated.
A life time associate membership in the BORLEY GHOST SOCIETY is only $25. The Society and related Internet pages are a non-commercial, non-profit
venture. Society dues are
used to help offset the cost of computer work, maintaining Internet web pages, printing and
mailing. There are a number
of honorary Society associates who do not have Internet access and who receive printed copies of
newsletters and related information. All proceeds above cost will go to the Borley Church Preservation Fund. Memberships are non-transferable.
