Nick Gatward experience at Borley

[The following is] a personal experience my wife and I had during the summer of 1985.
This is genuine and factual and witnessed by our two friends at the time.
I am a 45 year old police officer and as such I try to keep things as accurate as possible and my friend is an ambulance technician.
During the summer of 85 - we think june - we all visited Borley church having read about its history and in particular the Harry Price books. As we approached via Belchamps direction, with the church on our left and the coach house on the right, and probably around 1/4 mile from the church, the ignition warning light came on the dash. We had a VW Beetle then. We all laughed and thought "here we go," and thought no more, but we then parked to the right of the church in the small pull-in and we started to walk up to the porch. The yews were neatly trimmed then, and I suddenly came out in a huge red rash all over my forehead so much so that every one noticed it immediately. We all noticed how cold it seemed despite being a glorious summer day. We went in the church and left very quickly due to the intense irritation I was suffering and everyone felt quite alarmed.
We took several photos of the church etc. and when developed later on the whole roll was successful except the shots I took of the area. I believe to the right of the church they were completely bizarre in that they were yellow with streaks like lightening all over them. We later returned some time later - this time in father-in-laws Ford Escort, and again at virtually the same spot the ignition light came on. I think only I went to the church [during this visit], and that my wife was a bit concerned.
We reside in Norfolk.
